Meet Dr Neil
My Background
Dr. Neil is regarded as one of the leading experts in digestive health in Dubai. He is a UK-trained senior Consultant in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, with over 25 years of experience in investigating and treating GI and liver problems.
Dr Neil graduated with a BA Honours and an MA in Medical Sciences from Cambridge University and obtained his medical MBBS degree with distinctions from the University of London. He completed his specialty training in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Internal Medicine in a number of London’s top teaching hospitals and was awarded with a CCT(UK) in Gastroenterology and General (Internal) Medicine in 2007. During his training he also spent three years in clinical and academic research at Imperial College London.
Dr Neil worked as an NHS Consultant in southwest London for over ten years. He was Clinical Director for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy at Kingston Hospital, as well as an Honorary Consultant at St George’s Hospital. He also ran a successful private practice at several top private hospitals in southwest London and Surrey. Before moving to Dubai in late 2019, he spent one and a half years as the Chief of the Digestive Diseases Center at the flagship Beijing United Family Hospital in China.
Dr Neil is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians UK (FRCP), a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (FEBGH). He serves on the International Relations Committee of the American College of Gastroenterology. He is also a GCAA certified Specialist Aeromedical Examiner in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Dr Neil is father to two young children who keep him busy and entertained in his spare time!
My Philosophy
I take pride in providing reliable
high-quality patient-centred evidence-based care. One of the fundamental beliefs which guide my
practice of medicine is that every single patient is unique. I work with each individual to help find the
best solution to their digestive health problems. This includes the right tests, the right
treatments, the right diet and the right advice.
I will only order those tests which I feel
are likely to contribute to the understanding of a patient’s problems or which
are recommended by evidence-based guidelines.
I will keep working with my patients to find a solution to their
digestive problems, however many visits it may take.
I know the thought of talking to a stranger
about digestive issues can be awkward and so I always approach each
consultation with respect, consideration, and kindness. I will always take the time to listen to my
patients to ensure I fully understand the reason for their visit, their concerns,
and the impact of their problems. Similarly, I will always take time to explain
tests, procedures, results, and findings so my patients fully understand what
is happening with their digestive care.
